The big day comes . . . and goes.

I was due on Thursday, April 13, 2006. The doctor had me make an appointment for the 14th "just in case". I had also planned on starting my maternity leave on the 14th.

I left work on the 13th convinced that I would go in to the doctor in the morning and they would send me to the hospital to be induced.

I did not get to see my normal doctor and the one that I DID see wanted to give Wyatt a little more time.

They made another appointment for me the following Wednesday, the 19th.

I went in on the 19th and they did a final ultrasound to make sure the baby was ok. He was doing fine. They said that he would probably weigh about 9 pounds but that they could be off by as much as a pound.

The technician also pointed out how to tell that Wyatt had plenty of hair in the ultrasound.

They told me to check into the hospital between noon and one. So, I went home and did a few last minute chores. I also emailed everyone to let them know that I was going.

My bag had already been packed and in my car for a couple of months.

We got to the hospital around 12:30. Scott had thought ahead and taken me out to lunch.

They checked me in and the wait began.

That evening, they used the gel to start my labor. It started doing its job in the middle of the night and they gave me some painkillers to help me get some sleep.

Morning came . . . no baby.
